Notre PereThe 2008 winner made history this year by becoming the first Irish trained horse to claim a 1st in the Coral Welsh National. Trained by Jim Dreaper and ridden by Andrew Lynch he came in a at a 16-1 shot, coming in a 7 lengths clear from Cornish Set (2nd) and Halcon Genelardais (3rd). He has proven himself well with his effort and stamina in 2008, clinching a 3rd in the Irish National, but his performance in the Welsh National definately out shone that race. Although not a very quick horse, he is an honest one at that and enjoys the jumps, still only young ( at 7yrs), he is one to keep an eye on, but be wary of the ground he seems to do best when the going is soft or heavy.
